Doncaster Naturalists visit to Went Hills Tuesday 12 May 1.30 pm

Our visit is by invitation of the owner, Les Driffield. Parking is limited, so car share if possible.

Travel north up the A1 from Doncaster and leave at the Wentbridge turn off.

Go down the hill and over the bridge. Opposite the Wentbridge House Hotel turn left on a little road. The reserve is after the woodland (on the right)  through a gate. Don’t come too early since Les won’t be there much before, and there is not really space to stop on the road.

The reserve is a tiny patch of hillside which Les is carefully managing for its wildlife.

The hillside is steep, and mainly meadow and woodland. The lower part of the reserve was an agricultural field, but has yielded all sorts of interesting and unusual species. Les notes everything he finds and the list of new species is growing. Come along and see the amazing array of life there.
