I moved to digital photography in 2006.

I then had a Leica telescope and a fancied trying digiscoping so bought a very small Leica digital camera. It never proved satisfactory for me.

In those early days, the ‘Wild About Britain‘ website was very popular, known as ‘WAB’ and members where known as ‘Wabbers’. Here, one could share photos and information and photos on any wildlife topic with folk from all over the country, some of who were very knowledgeable and willing to share their information. The site ran for many years until, unfortunately, the site was trashed and never recovered.

Fungi was a popular subject and a ‘wabbers’ weekend meeting was held at Clumber Park annually, utilising the ‘Bunk House’ where up to a dozen people could sleep. In the evenings, after a day searching the grounds, the microscopes would be used to determine the identity of the days finds. As far as I can remember the total recorded for clumber park was over 600 species.

Many friends were made there and I still keep in touch with several today.

Also I learnt more about digital cameras which led me to buying a Nikon D80 in 2007. Here are a few photo from 2007 with this camera.
