Weather Forecasting

This formed the subject of an interesting and instructive lecture, delivered under the auspice of the Doncaster Scientific Society, in the Central Hall, Printing Office Street, on Wednesday evening, by Mr. W. Marriott, assistant secretary to the Royal Meteorological Society.

The discourse was rendered more intelligible be limelight illustrations of instruments for making meteorological observations, clouds, mountain observations, exploration of upper air by means of balloons and kites, etc.

One statement of general interest which the lecture made, was that, on an average, the best period for summer holidays was the latter part of May or the early part of June, fine weather being usually experienced at this time of year.
