Doncaster Microscopical and General Scientific Society
The annual meeting of this society was held on Wednesday evening last in the Grammar School, by the kind permission of the Re, George Smith, M.A., head-master.
In the absence of the president, Dr. J Mitchell Wilson took the chair.
The hon, secretary read the annual report, reviewing the work of the past session. The accounts, owing to the heavy expenses in connection with the Conversazione, showed a slight deficit, which it was hoped would be cleared off by the subscriptions in arrear.
The election of officers then took place, with the following results.
President, the Rev. W, R. Weston
Vice presidents, Dr. J. Mitchell Wilson, the Rev. Geo. Smith, the Rev. Canon Brock, and Mr. J. M. Kirk
Committee, Mr. H. Cockil, Mr. T. H. Easterfield, the Rev. A. H. Faber, Mr. W. Roberts, Mr. W. H. Stott, and Mr. J. G. Walker
Hon. Secretary and treasurer, Mr. M. H. Stiles.
The rule respecting the election of officers was altered, so that in future the president, one vice-president, and two members of the committee retire annually, and are not eligible for the same office for one year.
Seven papers and lectures were promised, the first of which will be given about the middle of January.
Votes of thanks to the Rev. George Smith, for the use of the Grammar School, and to Mr. M. H. Stiles for his work in connection with the office of secretary, were carried unanimously.
