Doncaster Microscopical and General Scientific Society
The annual meeting of this society was held in the Old Free Library on Wednesday evening last. Mr. T. Lovell Atkinson (president) in the chair. The honorary secretary, Mr. M. H. Stiles, read the report for the past year, and presented the statement of accounts, which was confirmed by the meeting. The balance in hands of the treasurer has increased from £11 6s 2d to £18 11s 2d. The number of members remains the same.
Last session a grant from the County Council, amounting to £15 was applied for and obtained, and a course of eight lectures 0n “Magnetism and Electricity” was delivered by Mr. V. P. Sills, M.A., F.C.S., in the Old Free Library during February and March of this year. The courses were eminently successful and left a handsome balance. The committee is now making arrangements for another course in the early part of next year.

A short course of five lectures or papers by members of the society has been arranged and will be delivered before Christmas at intervals of a fortnight.
