Mr. Chouler read a paper on “British Mustelidae” in which he gave a description of the type of animals constituting this order & drew attention to their points of resemblance & the general habits of the class, their comparison with the Felines in dentition & shape of skull & also their mode of pursuing & attacking their prey.

The lecturer then enumerated the various species commencing with the Weasel, the smallest of the tribe, & followed with the Stoat, the Polecat & the Otter: his remarks were illustrated by reference to fine preserved specimens, an excellent case of which was exhibited. A live ferret was also shown and gave evidence of the remarkable tenacity of the tribe.
