Next Meeting – Saturday 21st June 2025 -10.30 a.m. at Lindholme Hall
Doncaster Naturalists’ meeting with YNU
The Yorkshire Naturalists’ Union covers the whole of Yorkshire and its members are interested in wildlife. Some are experts in some aspect of wildlife, others are generally interested in anything, and like to learn from others. As a member of Doncaster Naturalists you are also an affiliated member of the YNU. I organise one meeting a year in our area, VC63.
Saturday 21June Doncaster Nats Meeting 10.30 at Lindholme Hall
Yorkshire International Buddhist Centre, Lindholme Bank Road, Hatfield, Doncaster DN7 6 DT.
From Hatfield Woodhouse take Remple Lane. (Sign, ‘no access to peat works’). Stay left at the first junction, then follow the tarmac road for about 2 miles. Beware of speed bumps around a house which you pass. They are ridiculously severe! (i think there are3!). The last road section says ‘private road’ Gomde , just after the Natural England car park. Parking will be on the grass to the left before the Hall. Paul, Jim and Dave will be there to direct you.
On the day there will an introduction, then choices of a walk on Hatfield Moor, a walk round Lindholme island, a combination, do your own thing, and /or visit the Mossery, courtesy of Louise.
Tea will be available from about 3.30, before the final meeting where we will hear of interesting finds which people have made during the day.
Since the area off the island has deep bogs, there would be a hazard if you ventured off the good paths. The most pressing things to watch out for are biting insects, ticks and the probability that the day will be hot and sunny. So, please take suitable precautions!
Don’t forget to bring lunch.
Hope to see you there
