I am sorry about this, but for personal reasons, I need to change the day for the visit to RSPB St. Aidan’s from Saturday to

Friday 9 May at 10.30

St Aidan’s is a RSPB reserve.  https://www.rspb.org.uk/days-out/reserves/st-aidans/location

It is interesting at most times of the year, but particularly so in spring when the Bitterns are booming and Black-necked Grebes are breeding. There are lots of these handsome but rare birds here and hopefully we should see them and many other water birds, as well as Redshank, Lapwing and birds which breed in the reeds such as Reed Warbler. Not forgetting the resident little owl!

Meet at 10.30 in the RSPB car park. LS 26 8AL (SE399287)

Charge of £4 per car for non RSPB members.

Bring lunch, although the on-site cafe does provides good food.

It will be walk of  3-4 Km on good firm tracks, mainly flat except for the steep access hill to and from the site from the visitors centre, although there is an alternate path which is not so steep.

Don’t forget your binoculars or scope.

Joyce.
