Dear Mr Stiles,
Herewith my article on “The Cuckoo”
I hope to be with you on Friday 2nd August. I have been invited to tea so please do not expect me then and I have arranged a meeting of the ‘boys’ at 9 pm. It is difficult to say when I shall arrive as shall spend the previous night at a little village outside Cambridge, but a bed is all I require and pray do not let Miss Schofield go to any avoidable trouble. I shall try to send a line – or a wire – diving my time of arrival.
This must be a short note. You may imagine what a business it is packing for China. I have had to be vaccinated & inoculated twice – and was bowled over for three days.
How do you like this heat? It will mean a lot of work in the garden. I wonder if your splendid raukeen lilies are out.
Best wishes. I crave pardon for this abrupt note.
Yours very sincerely,
Edward A. Armstrong
